Undergraduates learn to navigate Boston quickly. When it’s sunny and warm, they may go to the “beach,” an area by the law school that flanks the Fenway with the heavy flow of cars substituting for the sound of waves.

At BU students live in a variety of residence halls. First years often reside in the Towers which are classic cinder block dormitories. Then there are four city blocks of impressive brownstones which are much desired by the upper class students.

A new student village was completed next to the sports complex and the ice-hockey arena. It’s an 18-story high rise where up to 2,500 students live in apartments. Although the trolley runs frequently on Commonwealth Avenue, students must be hardy and strong to walk into the wintry winds to get to and from class. Some upper class students opt to live off campus in Brookline or other nearby areas.
