Colleges may offer students January or mid-year admission even though the students applied for fall admission. In such cases, students may go to a second college for the fall term and then switch to the first one mid-year. Sometimes students choose to apply for admission to a later term. If you make this choice, remember that fewer students are admitted mid-year and that application deadlines are different.

Deferred Admission

Many colleges can provide a deferred admission. You apply at the same time as other students, and learn whether you have been accepted at the same time as well. However, the college allows you to take a term or even a full year off before you begin so that you can achieve other goals, such as completing an internship or traveling. Check with the admissions office about this option.

Conditional Admission

Colleges may offer you conditional admission. The college may want more proof that you can be successful at their school. In some cases, the college wants to give you a chance, but thinks you need to strengthen your skills first. Conditional admission often involves graduating high school with a certain grade-point average or completing a term at a community college.

On the one hand, Minnesota State University in Mankato (MSU) is a selective college. If you meet certain requirements, you will be admitted.Application deadlines for admission to most programs are fairly close to the start of each term. On the other hand, the nursing program is competitive, with limited spaces.The deadlines and requirements for applying are stricter than for other programs.
