Below are the interview tips:

  • Know the time and place.
  • Be on time.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Give a good handshake.
  • Use good posture.
  • Make eye contact.
  • Speak clearly.
  • Be yourself.
  • Have questions ready.
  • Express your interest.
  • Thank your interviewer.
  • Send a thank-you note.

Selective and competitive colleges often require you to send them your scores from college entrance exams. These are standardized tests similar to ones that you may have taken in elementary and middle school.

The two major exams, the SAT and the ACT, are offered several times a year throughout the country. You can take practice versions as early as seventh or eighth grade. Most students take these exams in their junior or senior year.

Some colleges require one test or the other. Some olleges will accept either. Test scores are only one factor in whether you are accepted, but they can be an important factor. Your guidance counselor can advise you about preparing for the tests, when to take them, test procedures, and special accommodations.
